Education Minister Shri Madan Dilawar Takes Eye Donation Pledge on World Organ Donation Day

Dr. Suresh Kumar Pandey Gives an Inspiring Message by Pledging Eye and Organ Donation on His 58th Birthday

Kota:On the occasion of World Organ Donation Day, a special awareness campaign was organized by the Eye Bank Society of Rajasthan (EBSR), Kota Chapter, with the aim of increasing public awareness about eye and organ donation. On this occasion, the Honorable Education Minister of the Government of Rajasthan, Shri Madan Dilawar, unveiled an organ and eye donation awareness poster.

During the poster unveiling, Education Minister Shri Madan Dilawar supported the campaign by filling out a pledge form for posthumous eye donation, setting an inspiring example for society. He also called upon the general public to come forward in large numbers and take the pledge for eye donation. Shri Dilawar stated that eye donation is not merely a donation, but a noble resolve to dispel darkness from someone’s life and give them new light. “Even after we depart, our eyes can illuminate the world of a needy person. Therefore, every citizen of society should develop a positive mindset towards organ donation, and especially eye donation,” he said.

The event was graced by the presence of Dr. K.K. Kanjolia, President of the Eye Bank Society of Rajasthan, Kota Chapter; Dr. Suresh Kumar Pandey, Coordinator EBSR director SuVi Eye Hospital, Kota (www.suvieyehospital.com); Dr. Amit Singh Rathore, Executive Member; Vaidya Nityanand Sharma, Principal of Kota Ayurvedic College; and Eye Technician Tinku Ojha, along with many other volunteers and respected citizens.

A special highlight of the program was Dr. Suresh Kumar Pandey taking the pledge for eye and organ donation on his 58th birthday, delivering an inspiring message of service to humanity. He remarked that rather than merely celebrating a birthday as a festival, if we take a pledge to add hope and light to someone’s life, the day becomes far more meaningful.

Dr. K.K. Kanjolia and Dr. Suresh Kumar Pandey noted that World Organ Donation Day is observed every year on August 13. In line with the 2026 awareness theme, “Moving from Fear to Hope through Organ Donation,” there is a vital need to educate and inspire society about organ donation. They explained that a single deceased organ donor can give a new lease on life to several needy patients by donating vital organs such as the heart, lungs, liver, both kidneys, pancreas, and intestines. Additionally, the donation of tissues like corneas, skin, bones, and heart valves can also bring significant, life-changing benefits to many.

Everyone present at the event took a pledge to enhance public awareness about eye and organ donation and to spread a positive message throughout society. Through the campaign, a powerful message was delivered: “Become the light in someone’s life even after death—Take the pledge for eye donation.”

The Eye Bank Society of Rajasthan (EBSR), Kota Chapter, appealed to the general public to personally take the eye donation pledge, inform their family members about their wish, and inspire their family, friends, and acquaintances to do the same. Through collective efforts, hope and light can be brought into the lives of many people affected by corneal blindness.
