From Delhi to Issaquah: A Taste of Home at RaajGharana Indian Restaurant
For every NRI, there are moments when the heart aches for the comfort of home—not just the people, but the food that brings back memories of celebration, festivals, and slow Sunday lunches. During one such moment, I stumbled upon RaajGharana in Issaquah, and to my surprise, this restaurant turned out to be more than just a meal. It was a warm, familiar journey back to India.
Located in middle of Issaquah, RaajGharana Indian Restaurant offers a royal-inspired culinary experience that’s hard to find anywhere else in the Issaquah. The name itself—RaajGharana—evokes images of heritage, richness, and tradition. And trust me, it delivers on that promise.
The moment I entered, I was struck by the atmosphere. The interiors are designed with great attention to detail. It doesn’t feel like you’re in a restaurant. It feels like you’ve been invited into a noble Indian household from centuries ago—only with modern comfort and lighting.
I started with the Plantain chaat, an indulgent appetizer that reminded me of the bustling eateries of Mumbai. Delicately spiced and finished with artisan chutneys —it was a perfect starter that whetted the appetite. Next came the Peri peri tandoori shrimp, with juicy, well-made pieces cooked to perfection.
For the mains, I chose a mix of vegetarian and non-vegetarian dishes to get the full experience. The Paneer sham savera was a standout, with a velvety gravy rich in dark and light gravy in the same plate, just like dawn and dusk, paired beautifully with Garlic Naan and Laccha Paratha. The Rara lamb shank was robust and slow-cooked with aromatic spices, my first time tasting something like this.
What impressed me most was the balance of flavor—not overly greasy, not toned down for the American palate. This was authentic Indian cooking, carefully crafted for those who know what true Indian food should taste like.
To wash it all down, I tried their signature cocktail Black Berry Bourbon Mule, a drink made with bourbon and blackberries and some ginger-lime kick. For a non-alcoholic treat, I highly recommend the Kokum, bold and refreshing.
The service was attentive yet not intrusive. The staff explained everything about dishes and even offered pairing suggestions. It’s this level of thoughtfulness and hospitality that makes RaajGharana not just a restaurant, but a cultural ambassador of sorts.
As I looked around, I saw other families—some with toddlers, others with grandparents—enjoying the same sense of comfort and celebration. The space is multi-generational and inclusive, catering to everyone from picky toddlers to elders enjoying the taste.
RaajGharana isn’t just another Indian restaurant—it’s a love letter to India written in flavors, textures, and aromas. If you’re in the Seattle or Issaquah area and wondering where to take your family for a special evening, or even where to go alone for a soulful plate of butter chicken and naan, this is the place.
📍 Feel the nostalgia. Taste the tradition.
